  1. On December 5th, MBC's side confirmed that SNSD's Seohyun will be the MC for the 2018 MBC Drama Awards. The MBC Drama Awards is an awards ceremony presented by Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) for outstanding achievements in Korean dramas aired on its network. It is held annually in December.
  2. Seohyun "The Star" Magazine Full Interview November-December 2018 'Winter Special' Issue Q: This time <The Star> photoshoot concept was Winter Paradise. How was it? A: My favorite color is white, so I was really happy I could shoot in an all-over white space. It’s the first time doing a white concept from beginning to end, it was fresh and fascinating (laugh). Q: Not long ago you had your own fan meeting. The feelings were probably different. A: It was my first fan meeting in 11 years so while preparing I was really fluttery. I had a lot of worries about what kind of appearance to show to fans. Songs I sang 10 years ago without chorus during Girls’ Generation activities, I even sang by myself beginning to end. Q: Do you have any memorable episodes from your fan meeting? A: This time there was a Kimbap-making corner with fans. Wrapping kimbap, I had time to converse, and it was a truly meaningful time with fans directly. Q: Now rather than a singer, your image has become reminiscent of an actor. When a singer sings, and when an actor acts, the emotional line of immersion it seems would be different. A: I don’t think it’s much different. Whether music or acting it always starts with myself. However the job of an actor is to build another personality through acting, so because of that aspect it is a little different. Q: Recently in MBC drama <Time/Shigan>, in the role of Seol Jihyun, your acting beyond sadness and joy was impressive. I saw a new appearance of Seohyun as an actress. Were there any points that were difficult while acting? A: Acting is always difficult. Because I have to absorb and express the life of a person, I feel that extent of responsibility. Also when acting, there are many expressions of emotion both big and small. From being happy, crying, torn apart, several times a day feelings go up and down. So that is why I’m careful most to controlling my emotions. Q: In this work particularly there were a lot of toxic tears. Intense tearful acting seems would be difficult. Is there any know-how? A: When I truly immerse in the situation and let go it flows out. If you think about other things to cry, the emotion breaks and you yourself feel awkward. Q: A most memorable project? A: In any case the project I finished this time is the most memorable one. I expended a lot of energy, in tears almost the entire time, so it seems I will remember it for a long time. Q: Do you an event or time that was a turning point in your acting career? A: Through this work I eased my thirst for acting a little. Because amidst simultaneous activity in singing and musicals, I did not have enough time to pour into acting. However in this work I tried to live only as the role of “Seol Jihyun”. I took almost no other schedules (laugh). Q: Where do you get know-how or inspiration for acting immersion? A: It’s most important that I become that role at once. In order to do that I must go through a process of filling in parts that are not in the script myself. If it’s a high school student, what was her home environment like? What are her habits? How did she spend her childhood? I must personally assign these details to express the character in three dimensions, so I turn into that character right. Q: A role there is greed for or a role you really want to try? A: My personality is on the animated and cheerful side. I became mentally depressed while playing this character because I was in tears all the time. Now if I act a sweet or bright role like a romcom or melo*, I think it would be healing. One must take on various roles. I think that is an actor’s fate. (*Note “melo” = often used in concext of a sentimental romance rather than simply “sad” story) Q: Something memorable you learned when challenging yourself because of a role? A: I always learn with every project. In this work I learned how to cook. In the previous one I learned action. My action teacher calls me an ace. I guess I have talent in what I do with my body (laugh). Q: When thinking of Seohyun, we can’t miss out Girls’ Generation. What does “Girls’ Generation” mean to you? A: We were together during life’s brightest youth/being together during the brightest youth of our lives. An insperable companionship for life and real family. Furthermore, when we are apart, there is a more affectionate and precious feeling when we see each other. Q: Girls Generation members often meet/You often meet Girls’ Generation members. There is probably always a lot to say when you meet after a long time. What kind of conversations do you share? A: I have been busy recently so I don’t see them often, but we talk in the chat room daily. Also we talk without pretense between us, so we give each other objective feedback. Q: As singer Seohyun, what is your style working with music? A: I’m a really scrutinous style (haha). Once immersed, I will not leave the recording studio until I am satisfied. Most others go 40-50 minutes and rest, I take almost three hours at least. Q: Of the albums you participated in, is there a song you hold most dearly? A: I am fond of my solo album itself. This is because it the album that reflects my opinon the most. Writing, composition, song selection, there is nothing that did not go through my hands. To put it simply, I feel it’s a work my story remains in (laugh). Q: To do acting and singing activities in the future it seems would require stamina support. Health care, body care, is there something you do to maintain or protect it? We are also curious about your exercise and eating habits. A: I don’t think there’s only one thing. I do aerobics steadily, and take care to eat nutriously. Also rather than instant food, I make an effort to mainly eat Korean food. I have to absolutely eat rice. Q: If there was a modifier before your name, you would like to be called “(Blank) Seohyun” A: Humane Seohyun / Personality Seohyun (*Note 인간적인 translates literally to “humane/humanistic/human-like” but is read rather as someone with a lot personal charm or an appealing personality/sense of self. Korean fans found her reply cute and witty, so context is closer to “Personality Seohyun”). Q: You debuted as a teen and now you are already in your late twenties. In that time there must be a lot that changed. What was the biggest change? O rather, what would you like to change? A: I gained space/ease for my mind/heart. In the past I was obsessed with the idea of doing well and lived fiercely/strenuously in every moment. Self-stringent, I was a tormentive style. When I think about it now, why did I do it like that? Yet on the other hand, I think because of those times I set my standard for living so I have no regrets. Q: We are curious if there is fashion style Seohyun is particularly interested in or like wearing. A: I normally wear a casual style. I enjoy wearing jeans and t-shirts mainly. When I’m working I wear a lot of feminine clothes. Of course, depending on circumstances, I sometimes wear clothes that don’t suit my taste (laugh). Q: Skincare, makeup secrets, what is your personal beauty style? A: Home care is the most important. I do go to the dermatologist too, but when I can’t go because there are a lot of schedules, I absolutely do one pack (mask) per day. I choose a pack according to my skin condition. I don’t usually try to do makeup well. Q: What is Seohyun’s usual everyday life like? A: Exceedingly ordinary. I take my dog for a walk often. I like to look at nature so I go to the Han River, or I like to go to the park while listening to music. Q: Have you cried lately? A: Perhaps because I was too fortunate/cried a lot during the drama, my tear glands have dried. I have not cried recently (laugh). Q: What kind of person is ordinary Seohyun in her late 20s? A: In the past I used to separate my ordinary self from the entertainer, now it seems Seohyun and Seo Juhyun are merging into one. Q: You’re famous for reading a lot of books. Is there a book that left an impression or one you are reading recently? A: Rather than reading a lot of books, I’m reading the same books over over and over. I feel if you keep your hands working through the same book, you learn the parts worth changing your life. These days I’m reading <Hector and the Search for Happiness>, I’m carrying it today too (laugh). Q: The public would say Seohyun has righteous and good character. What do you yourself think are the characteristics of Seohyun and Seo Juhyun? We are curious if there is a difference, or it is the same. A: They are the same, but I don’t have many opportunities to show my real self so it seems others think or wonder if it’s different. The people around me usually tell me I’m really funny. I have a lot of mischievousness (laugh). Q: What are you strengths and weaknesses? A: I’m good at mind control. I try to find something to be happy about even in difficult circumstances. There were a lot of hardships big and small when I wanted to give up, I thought “how do I get through this?”, then “if I have to endure this anyway, let’s think positively”. When I changed the train of my thoughts, the difficult moments passed soon. Although it’s not yet perfected, I grasped the wisdom in how to flip switches (laugh). Q: 2018 is almost over. Is there something you really want to do or achieve this year? A: This is really a romantic thought. I want to walk around the streets of New York at night with no thoughts, just listening to Christmas carols. I think I would feel good just strolling. Q: When you look back on the year 2018, what do you think you did well, was unfortunate, or have regrets towards? A: I have no regrets. Rather, it is a year I want to commend myself. I learned a lot through my work and gained several life experiences Q: Do you have any upcoming plans for Christmas? Anyone you would like to spend it with? A: I want to be with my family. I want to cook delicious food for my parents and spend a small slice of ordinary life together. Q: You are of enough age to have interest in love. A personal romantic holiday dream. What kind do you have? A: If I have a boyfriend, I want to walk down the street hand in hand. But that is only possible if I am in a public relationship (laugh) Q: What would be your New Year’s wish be on January 1st, 2019? A: I wish each day could be happy. And I also do a lot of projects. Q: A dream you want to achieve in the future? A: It may be a faraway dream, but I want to win a prize at the Cannes Film Festival. I will work hard until that dream comes true. I promised to go with my hardworking staff/staff that suffers for me (laugh). I want to take better care of the people around me too Q: Please greet the <The Star> readers once again. A: <The Star> readers, there is not much time left in the year. I hope you finish the remainder of 2018 happy and healthy. I will see you in good form in the future. Please look forward to it. Thank you cr
  3. Girls' Generation's Seohyun released a teaser image for her winter special song "My Friend." The song will be released in December 2018.
  4. Seohyun talked about her former agency SM Entertainment. The idol-actress sat down for an interview with Seoul Economic Daily to chat about her recently ended drama 'Time', acting career, and more. During the talk, Seohyun mentioned SM Entertainment and said, "SM is an amazing company. I grew up like a child with a golden spoon in an environment where everything is provided. It's a company that allowed me to be where I am now. The environment is great but I wanted to challenge myself and try things on my own." Seohyun explained how she was limited under SM, saying, "SM is a big company where everything is (systematically) provided so it's a system where my opinions and thoughts can't be reflected much. I felt like I have settled down in a too great environment. I started having this thirst of making decisions and creating things on my own." The star admits she misses SM time to time but she doesn't regret her decision of leaving. She said, "I experienced so much throughout the past year (after leaving SM). I had experiences that I've never had under the company," and said, "There were times when I had to get on my feet and solve issues. It helped a lot with my life. I think I made a good decision." cr

It has nothing to do with SM though, it's just that their current companies are good 4. The picture for Maeil Duyu is f*cking pretty 5. Tiffany left??? It's my first time learning this.. 6. Seohyun has so many.. 7. Since they left SM, they have more work to do 8. Using the company is just an excuse, Yoona still has the most 9. Am I the only one who find that department stores' image look cheap because they're using so many idols nowadays? But at the same time, the companies know that this is what sells the mostㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 10. They get all the perks because they were once in SNSD cr

  7. Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany showed her support for fellow member Seohyun and her drama “Time” by sending her a coffee truck! On August 30, Seohyun shared several photos of herself posing in front of the coffee truck on Instagram. The banners on the truck read, “Because the time spent together with Seol Ji Hyun [Seohyun’s character in ‘Time’] is precious.” The banner ended with a wordplay that combined Tiffany’s name and the word “fighting,” as it said, “Everyone, Fany-ting!” In several other photos, Seohyun held a cup of coffee to show her thanks to Tiffany, saying, “Fany, I’ll drink [the coffee] well. I love you.” She continued, “I’m getting strength first thing in the morning~~ Tiffany is the best, thank you so so much.” Tiffany showed her support for Seohyun again through her Instagram story as she wrote over Seohyun’s photos, “I love you Seo actress.” She also added, “Staff and actors of ‘Time,’ please look over our youngest member. Seol Ji Hyun, Fany-ting.” Seohyun is currently starring as the lead actress in MBC’s Wednesday-Thursday drama as Seol Ji Hyun, while Tiffany is promoting in the United States under the name Tiffany Young. cr soompi
  8. Article: Seohyun "Since my character is poor, I don't wear make up even if I might look ugly" Source: Newsen via Nate 1. [+1,775, -188] Can you just stay out of acting? 2. [+744, -74] She's right though, some actresses put on too much full make up 3. [+121, -12] Poor people wear make up too... is she putting them down? 4. [+113, -6] Since when was a department store parking lot personnel considered poor? Just call it average... Really poor people need 2-3 part time jobs... and yes, they do wear make up no matter how tough things are.. 5. [+94, -7] Why does she think poor people can't wear make up and live with a bare face? And does she think working as support staff at a department store automatically makes you poor? 6. [+85, -1] Poor people know how to do make up too~ ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 7. [+77, -4] That's wrong of her to think ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ how can anyone who works in the service industry not wear make up, whether they're poor or not?... ㅜㅜ 8. [+71, -5] So explain to me why you think poor women don't wear make up? 9. [+61, -3] Is it wrong for poor women to wear make up and be prettier~?? ㅋㅋㅋ 10. [+49, -1] Really dumb of her to think poor people don't wear make up - Article: Seohyun, "The reason I don't wear make up in 'Time' is to relate to my character" Source: Ilgan Sports via Nate 1. [+218, -24] So does SM have any idol that can act? 2. [+149, -15] Make up is to be worn when you want to feel pretty ㅋㅋ 3. [+139, -16] Do you even know how to act? 4. [+19, -3] I've actually noticed that poor women wear more make up ㅋㅋㅋ 5. [+9, -2] So if you're poor, you can't wear make up and you have to be ugly? ㅋㅋㅋ She doesn't understand her character at all and yet she wants to act? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Please use your brain before speaking~ Your head isn't only there to put hats on~ 6. [+6, -2] This is why you can't pluck little kids out of school and put them in idol training... 7. [+4, -2] Where'd she get the notion that poor people don't wear make up? If you wanted to look poor, maybe just reuse your outfits more often and wear less make up? cr netizenbuzz
  9. Article: Seohyun - Kim Jung Hyun, 'photo time ignoring each other' Source: Mydaily via Nate 1. [+887, -25] The man does not look like he's in a good mood... 2. [+812, -25] Why's he like that? With his hands in his pockets too 3. [+709, -26] Is this a concept? Why would he stand like that for photos??? 4. [+93, -5] Did they fight? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Or has he deluded himself into believing he's his chaebol character? 5. [+81, -6] So cocky of him... what's his problem? Awkward for Seohyun to deal with... It's usually the men who escort the women at events like this;;; 6. [+80, -5] He kept ignoring her when the cameras requested an affectionate pose. Maybe they don't have good drama chemistry. 7. [+78, -5] Did they fight?? Why's his face like that in all the photos??? He's so unprofessional.. 8. [+65, -7] Take those hands out of your pockets ㅡㅡ how cocky of him 9. [+61, -3] Apparently it's because he was too into his drama character ㅋㅋ how ridiculous ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 10. [+60, -7] He's not even handsome, who's his sponsor that he thinks he can act this arrogantly? - Article: Kim Jung Hyun freezes up at production conference, was he too focused? Source: Newsen via Nate 1. [+939, -88] Just seemed like he lacked basic manners;; 2. [+652, -41] I checked the video out because of all this controversy and I kind of got the feeling that he was trying to act like Yoo Ah In... not sure if it's a concept or whatever but I'll have to make sure that he pulls his character off in the first episode then ^^ 3. [+555, -36] Meanwhile Seohyun was smiling for the cameras and acting the right way 4. [+133, -55] Who is he and why's he acting so cocky 5. [+80, -3] Seohyun asked if she could link arms with him and she raised her hand up and he denied and moved his arm away;; That must've been so awkward for her, I felt bad that she had to laugh it off 6. [+68, -2] He should know there's a time and place for everything. He shouldn't be acting like this off the drama set. So if he takes on a murderer character, he's going to act like that too? 7. [+58, -3] So awkward for Seohyun... If he was going to "focus so hard" on his character, then he should've at least given his co-stars a heads up before they got on stage. Then Seohyun would've acted accordingly with the reporter requests. 8. [+55, -1] Seohyun tried to link arms with him and he got stone faced and ignored her ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ such an overreaction ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ - Article: Kim Jung Hyun tears up in clarification of his attitude Source: Star News via Naver 1. [+1,808, -93] I was really turned off with the way he ignored Seohyun when she asked to link arms for a photo. This is an issue of character, not "being too focused on the role". People like Choi Min Shik and Ha Jung Woo are famous for their focus on their characters and they've never acted like this at public conferences. I wonder if he would've acted the same way if it was Kim Hye Soo or Yoon Yeo Jung and not Seohyun? 2. [+674, -35] If Choi Min Shik had his mindset, he would've killed all the reporters on set at his "I Saw the Devil" conference ㅋㅋ 3. [+610, -8] The conference was a place to promote their drama and speak with reporters... so yeah, it was rude of him to be so dismissive. It made the public uncomfortable which is why he's on the search rankings right now. 4. [+277, -31] What a comparison to Seohyun next to him who was smiling and trying her best with a positive attitude 5. [+68, -2] So does he think other actors aren't focused on their characters which is why they act respectfully at these conferences? Is he the only person in the world who acts? TSk tsk... - Article: 'Attitude controversy' Kim Jung Hyun reps, "A mistake from being too focused on his character, apologetic to his co-stars" Source: X Sports News via Nate 1. [+264, -29] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ What a pathetic excuse ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ he's acting like a top star ㅋㅋㅋ 2. [+253, -31] He was wrong if he thought this was a doable concept for his drama. And if he acted like this because he was in a bad mood, then he needs to realize how much harm he brought to his drama today. This was such a great opportunity for him and he messed it up! 3. [+224, -36] I liked him a lot in 'Waikiki' but he was so thoughtless today ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 4. [+26, -4] He should do a movie with Jun Jong Seo later ㅋㅋㅋ 5. [+25, -0] He probably begged for this opportunity as a rookie and basically kicked his chance away cr netizenbuzz

  11. Naver: "Seohyun one-person agency with her father" (30.05.2018) "According to some articles Seohyun ended her partnership with Sublime Artists since last month and is currently beginning steps towards her own one-person company. Sublime Artist Company clarified: “Since the beginning, our agency has not had a contract on management with her. We only work together for advertisements, and we will continue to collaborate for advertisement-related matters" [+2,268, -297] Seohyun seems to be doing well on her own [+1,148, -95] Look at article contents. She is creating a one-person agency. She is not separating from this agency but done with their agreement. When she came out suddenly to seoul North Korean Art Troup's performance, she did not have an agency so composer Kim Hyung Seok's manager helped her. An agency did not even know she was there and there were SM-related conspiracy theories because she could not be alone. But now it is a year since being alone and she already has advertising and a drama contrary to it being said she couldn't [+561, -39] Looks like over half a year since being alone, she's doing well [+305, -70] Pretty, find success [+185, -20] She has been alone! Looking forward to what she can do alone in the future, fighting! [+104, -9] Seohyun has been independent for 9 months. Her parents wanted her to stay in SM but Seohyun said in an interview it was her will to be independent. In 9 months of being independent she has done advertising, hosting, a drama. She did it all. No interference with her future (directed towards antis saying parents who get involved with careers are greedy and controlling) [+63, -9] Totally separated well. Even without celebrity i think she would have succed in anything else. Fighting! Cr: seohyundaily
